How are items shipped? How long will they take?

We work to get you your items as fast as we can! Online orders are processed Monday through Friday. Please allow us 1-4 business days for processing. USPS Media Mail, which we use for most book-only orders, has an estimated delivery of 2-8 business days. USPS Ground Advantage has an estimated delivery of 1-5 business days.

What does “Not on our shelves but available to order” mean?

This means that the book is currently sold out on our shelves but we can and will reorder it for you! These books may take additional time to ship.

What does "Backorder" mean?

This means that the book or merch is being restocked and is temporarily unavailable. Orders may take longer to fulfill depending on the expected restock date. In rare cases, refunds may be issued if the restock date is too far out.

When will my pre-orders ship?

Pre-ordered books are shipped either on the day of the book’s release or as soon as possible after. Pre-ordered merchandise is shipped as soon as it is restocked.

I’m a self-published/indie author! How can I get my book on your shelves?

We love supporting indie authors! As a children’s bookstore, we stock primarily books for ages 0-18, though we have a smaller, select adult genre fiction shelf. Please note: we are not currently considering work that is created with AI. At this time, indie books will have to be available on Ingram for the standard wholesale discount to considered for our store. We do not currently stock books on consignment due to limited space, though that is something we are planning for the future! If you’d like for us to consider your book, please contact us.

Do you ship food from the menu?

Unfortunately, we do not currently take online food orders or do deliveries or pickups. All of our delectable baked goods are available for in-person purchase at one of our events and pop-ups!

What is Cottage Food?

Cottage Food Law grants home-bakers and businesses the ability to use their kitchen to make baked goods and package and sell them. All of our delicious desserts are whipped up right here at home and made with love. And a tooth-aching amount of sugar.

How can we support Jay’s House and readers in Florida?

Your support means the world! Every dollar goes toward helping us bring an inclusive, family-oriented brick-and-mortar bookstore cafe to South Florida. We are setting up on Indiegogo so that we can reach this goal even faster.

We also encourage our readers and friends to check out PEN America, Foundation 451, and Literacy for Incarcerated Teens and join us in helping them bring more books to kids across the country. Especially here in our very own state of Florida!

Audiobooks & Ebooks

How can I listen to audiobooks?

We’ve partnered with Libro.fm to bring you over 400,000 audiobooks, right at your fingertips. You can sign up for a monthly membership or purchase books à la carte with no strings attached! You can even gift an audiobook to your friends and family!

Do I need a monthly membership to download audiobooks?

Not at all! Audiobooks on Libro.fm can be purchased individually without a monthly commitment.

Do you sell ebooks?

Our partner, Bookshop, is working hard on a brand new app, which will allow you to download ebooks for purchase. We'll have more information on this very soon!

Book Boxes

How and when are subscription book boxes shipped?

There is a flat rate of shipping for $9/month. Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Outlying Islands may incur a small surcharge. Subscription boxes ship every March (Spring Box), June (Summer Box), September (Fall Box) and December (Winter Box). Susbcriptions are not eligible for free shipping.

Though you may get a notification that your items have shipped, please allow up to 5 business days before checking the tracking information for your box.

Does this subscription auto-renew?

Yes, this box will auto-renew based on your subscription type at the time of purchase. Quarterly subscriptions auto-renew every 3 months. Annual subscriptions auto-renew every 12 months.

If you do not want your subscription to auto-renew, please cancel or pause your subscription prior to the next renewal date. There are no refunds or cancellations for boxes and payments that have already been processed.

Do I have to subscribe to get a book box?

Not at all! We offer one-time book box purchases. Also, if we have extra boxes from previous shipments, then those will be available for purchase. Limited edition book boxes are subscription-free.

What kind of treats are included in the Top Shelf YA Box?

Most treats are sourced from small businesses like ours! Others are baked in-house by our Head Chef. Treats can contain nuts, dairy, gluten and/or coconut, or other allergens so discretion is advised. Treats may be substituted based on availability.

Can I send a box back? Or can I exchange a book or treat?

All sales are final and book boxes are non-returnable. Books supplied in the boxes cannot be exchanged for a different title. Treats cannot be exchanged nor will they be shipped again due to the very limited quantity.

Can I switch subscription tiers?

You can downgrade from the Books & Treats box to the Book Only box. However, due to limited quantity, there is a waitlist for the Books & Treats box. To upgrade to the Books & Treats box, please contact us directly.

My box didn't arrive!

If your box is lost or missing, please reach out within 30 days of expected delivery date. We will do our absolute best to accommodate you.

My box arrived damaged!

If there are any damages or issues with your box, please contact us immediately so that we can do our best to accommodate you. Photos may need to be supplied to so that we can examine the extent of the damage and the determine the best way to make it right.

If the book is proven to be damaged, then we will do our best to replace it for you. Treats and swag items unfortunately cannot be replaced due to a limited quantity, with few exceptions.
